1. A HISTORY OF FIRSTS

SEAmagine was the first to stress the need to build each mini submarine for recreational use to a code. The company developed numerous patents over the years specific to manned submersibles and established a series of industry firsts such as flexible buoyancy and flotation systems, a clam shell cabin design, a high surface freeboard design, constructed the first 3 person spherical acrylic hull, and produced reliable external controls. These are just a few examples of many new technologies developed by SEAmagine. The company chose to use the most stringent classification code, ABS, and was the first to implement a proper training program for the recreational market. SEAmagine set up training programs sanctioned by the US Coast Guard in 1999 that resulted in a US Coast Guard Limited Captain’s license for its submersibles. This training program was the initial base that has since been expanded to its current international program.

 

2. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY OF ELEGANT SIMPLICITY

Although high tech, SEAmagine’s basic systems and design philosophy allow for an extremely reliable mini submarine. Basic systems involving propulsion, life support, ballasting are controlled independently as opposed to relying on a single control center, and ballasting valves actuated manually as opposed to being controlled remotely resulting in an extremely reliable mini submarine that is highly adaptable with a variety of equipment.

 

3. THE MOST ROBUST SUBMERSIBLES ON THE MARKET

SEAmagine understands that operating a mini submarine involves much more than the just the underwater aspect. Competing concepts tend to rely on ideal surface conditions in order to operate safely. A submersible may start a dive in perfect weather, but that does not mean it will be the case at the end of the dive which is why it is important for the mini submarine to be able to handle less than ideal conditions.

SEAmagine’s mini submarine designs have a strong focus on ensuring safe and practical surface operations and we pay close attention to the boarding and exit of people from the submersibles. This is achieved by ensuring a high level of surface stability, proper docking and tie off configuration on the mini submarine itself, proper hand rails, and large entry hatches. Close attention is paid on all our submersibles to ensure stable and safe interaction between the mini submarine once in the water and its support vessel. SEAmagine submarines are designed to handle various sea conditions safely and are constructed to withstand hard conditions and last for many years. They are by far the most robust small submersibles on the market.

 

4. UNMANNED LAUNCH ABILITY AND EXTERNAL SURFACE CONTROLS

SEAmagine submersibles have the ability to be launched unmanned and allow personnel to safely and easily embark/disembark with the sub floating at surface. This feature allows the operator to perform multiple dives in a single day without the need to recover it on deck each time. All of SEAmagine’s submersibles have hardwired external controls allowing the operator to maneuver the sub from its top deck without having to go inside the hull or have any hatch open when maneuvering at surface. This external control station feature greatly simplifies launch and recovery and surface logistics and does not require anyone inside the hull until the sub is safely tied off and ready for boarding.

6. COMFORT AND SPACIOUS CABIN

SEAmagine's AURORA Designs offer an exceptional spacious cabin to its occupants and present a high degree of comfort. Competing mini submarine concepts reduce the dry weight of the mini submarine by shrinking the main hull size to reduce the total mini submarine displacement. SEAmagine's innovative designs offer a different approach that provides large hull space for passengers to ensure comfort while still keeping the dry weights of the mini submarine low. In fact the Aurora-3C offers the largest cabin space than any competing design in its weight category.

 

7. MINI SUBMARINE SAFE BOARDING CONFIGURATION

SEAmagine's Aurora submersibles fields of view are greatly enhanced by moving the access hatch away from the top of the window into a separate compartment behind the main cabin. Its unique ability to tilt at surface provides an extremely stable platform for boarding, which does not require obtrusive forward pontoons that severely restrict peripheral viewing. A specifically designed aft section provides a secure arrangement that can be firmly tied to the support vessel, providing a stable platform for boarding. This well thought out approach, the product of design innovation and operating experience, is important in ensuring safety and comfort while boarding from the yachts, even in rough sea conditions.

 

8. HIGH PERFORMANCE & SUPERIOR MANEUVERABILITY

SEAmagine's Aurora designs are equipped with 6 powerful propulsion thrusters, configured such that their vectors of thrust provide a high level of maneuverability in all directions, without the need for moving actuator systems, ensuring a high level of reliability. SEAmagine’s thrusters and propeller shroud assemblies are dual direction with high bidirectional efficiency. The thruster operation can be selected in pairs, further refining the ability to “fine tune” the mini submarine behavior to the task at hand. The four corner thrusters provide impressive performance not only moving forward and backwards, but also sideways without having to rotate the submersible’s heading. This feature is highly desirable when filming along a reef or structure and allows for the sideways panning of the mini submarine. The four vectored corner thrusters also permit the mini submarine to rotate about its center. This configuration provides powerful maneuvering ability as well as providing comprehensive redundancy.

 

9. IMPORTANT SURFACE TOWING ABILITY

For short distances, the submersibles are driven at surface but for instances when the dive site is far away from the mother ship, the submersibles are towed to the location. The ability to tow the submersibles is an essential contingency measure to ensure that it can always be brought back to the mother ship in adverse weather conditions. All of SEAmagine submersibles are designed to allow efficient surface towing capability when needed.

 

10. ATTENTION TO DETAILS & QUALITY FINISH

SEAmagine submersibles are designed and fabricated with strong attention to details to produce not only a high quality finish but also ensure robust construction that will withstand the harsh marine environment. Our submarines are based on solid aluminum exo-structures to encompass overall protection of the mini submarine and to be able to withstand the field reality of various sea conditions. The cabin interiors are large and spacious allowing for a comfortable and ergonomic layout for passengers and pilot.
